ABO Review : 'Gang'

Note : Telugu Dubbed Version Review

`Gang` is a Watchable Period Heist Thriller!.

Story:

Uttham Das (Suriya) aims to become a CBI officer but is let down by corrupt officials. Upset with the state of affairs in the Department, he forms his own gang and starts raiding some Big-shots as a fake CBI Officer. Another Special officer (Karthick) gets appointed by the government to nab this gang. The Rest is about how the Gang pulls of a Big Heist despite the best efforts of Cops.

Performances:

Suriya is Brilliant, Very convincing and holds the film together. He also dubbed for his role. Ramya Krishnan is also an asset with her screen presence. Keerthy Suresh hasn`t got much to play with and Karthik is Very Good.

Technical Departments:

Action : Adequate.

Music: Songs are Ordinary and BGM is Good.

Cinematography: Good.

Editing: Adequate.

Analysis:

Vignesh Shivn has adapted `Special 26` for Kollywood audiences with its Core Story intact. Being a Big Budget Starer, this was sugar coated with More Romance and other commercial elements than its Hindi original. The 1st half of the film is especially good and gets dragged in the 2nd half with a not-so impressive Romantic Track. But `Gang` ends pretty well with a modified and more impressive twist to the Pre-climax. This is a certainly watchable affair for its Core Content and Suriya`s Brilliant Performance. Dubbing Quality is Good.

Box-office Verdict : Considering the Manageable Costs involved, this has potential to end as a Successful film in Telugu States.
